Over the course of a wedding season, as a wedding photographer I tend to see the same color schemes pop up again and again. Don’t get me wrong, dusty blues and crisp whites for summer and deep maroons and navy for fall will always look amazing! I think the dusty blue color scheme will forever be a favorite of mine, especially in the summer because it just pops and gives color to a timeless look. However, I always find myself craving something new to feast my color-loving eyes on. What was strange though, was that I found myself (normally a fan of earth- and jewel-tones) falling in love with warmer colors like golden marigolds and rusty oranges. So in the midst of the chaos that is fall wedding season, I planned a styled shoot with a few of my favorite vendors to highlight my new-found love of this warmer color palette.
I had heard about a new, intimate wedding venue located near my hometown in Mechanicsburg and reached out to them. 1181 Creekside Manor was the perfect setting! It’s located next to the Yellow Breeches creek that I spent a majority of my childhood and college-life immersed in. It was so great to return to the body of water that I’ve spent years doing restoration work with! This venue definitely caters towards a more outdoor-loving, adventurous couple due to its setting. Working next the the sounds of cascading water was heavenly and definitely gave me a sense of peace. How nice it would be to surround yourself with that on your wedding day! I wanted this styled shoot to have a very easy-going, relaxed feel to give off the same vibe I felt at the venue. I think we pulled it off!
I asked my friends at POSH Bridal (gown), Hemlock & Hellebore (florals), Fearfully and Wonderfully 139 (hair and makeup), Perspective Piece (invitation) and Sunshine Bakery (galette) if they wanted to join in on fairly short notice and they were all game! I put out a model call and the beautiful Danielle and Ben were graciously willing to offer their time and pretend to get married for us. Scroll through to see some of my personal faves from this shoot! All of the vendor details are included at the end!
